Katie Arroyo

Katie Arroyo, CGBP International Trade Specialist with the Florida Small Business Development Center (FSBDC) at University of North Florida consults qualified Florida small business exporters to strategically pursue international markets as a growth tactic.  Arroyo researches global trade flows, industry trends, and international tariff, compliance factors to connect clients with foreign markets where they are most likely to succeed.  She frequently collaborates with U.S. Commercial Service and Enterprise Florida colleagues to deliver international training and has consulted with over 100 small business exporters on nearly every aspect of foreign market development and compliance.  Arroyo has worked on international contracts with the World Trade Center in Monterrey, Mexico, the Universidad Católica de Valparaíso in Chile, and for a Fortune 500 company at the Foreign Trade Zone of the Americas in San Jose, Costa Rica. In graduate school Arroyo was a student volunteer with an agricultural youth leadership initiative in Sierra Leone and the following year she established Gondwana Imports LLC, selling a variety of international curios to fundraise in support of ongoing development projects in Sierra Leone.  Arroyo has been active in international relations for 20 years, first as a high school exchange student in Chile, then by pursuing undergraduate, graduate degrees in International Studies and International Trade & Development, respectively.  Arroyo studied abroad in Chile, Iceland, Cuba (academic visa), and Sierra Leone, and has traveled to Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Chile, Canada, Holland, Mexico, New Zealand, Paraguay, Puerto Rico, and St. Thomas.  She speaks Spanish fluently, and limited Portuguese, Turkish.
